One of the most frequent questions that I am asked is how can I remove spyware or adware from my Windows computer? Windows is susceptible to viruses, spyware and adware so it is important to always have protection in place. One of the first things that I do when ever I am setting up a new computer or when I have just reinstalled windows is to install Anti Virus software. I recommend doing this before you ever connect your computer to the network/internet. (See my article on Anti Virus Software) After you are running some form of AV (Anti Virus Software) I recommend making sure your windows computer is running the latest patches/updates. Click here to check for updates. After you have installed Anti Virus Software and ran the latest Windows updates if you are still being plagued by spyware or adware it is time to look to see if you can use some tools from the net to remove the pesky software. I highly recommend this Asus Netbook. It is a small light computer with a killer battery. The keyboard is normal size and very comfortable to type on. I have recommended this machine to many people and they have all been very happy with their purchase. You no longer need to purchase Norton Anti Virus because Microsoft now offers their Security Essentials software for free. Download that here. I do recomend the extra stick of ram to improve performance. The RAM is very easy to install. There is 1 screw on the bottom of the computer. Remove that screw and the existing stick of RAM pops right out and you just put the new one in and you are all set. Here is a good tutorial on how to install RAM. The home edition is for non-commercial use and doesn’t include Microsoft Outlook.
Amazon has a great offer on Windows 7. If you qualify for the upgrade buy it before July 11th and you can save up to 50% off. Great deal and it will be delivered on release date.
Airfoil is one of the coolest apps invented. It allows you to take sound/music from your computer and pipe it to any Windows, Mac, or iPhone on your network or in your house. This allows you to play the same music on all your computers throughout your workplace or home. This is one of the least expensive ways that I know to have a whole house music system. Use this in combination with your iPhone remote and you can have a great setup. There is a small charge assoicated with this software $25 (Single License) but it is well worth it. Check out Airfoil here.
This is one of the easist ways to be able to help somone out who may have a computer problem. It is a great way to share your screen with others. Check it out here.
Windows 7 release candidate is available for the public to download. From what I understand the software will time bomb sometime around March next year. Until then we have the opportunity to try it out! I have only had success downloading Windows 7 using Internet Explorer.
