Sync iTunes and iPhoto between multiple Mac’s on the LAN

May 26th, 2009

Chronosync

I wanted to be able to sync iTunes and iPhoto between multiple Macs.  I really wanted to be able to accomplish this by syncing over the cloud with my favorite syncing app, Sugarsync.  However, most syncing apps don’t support Apple libraries like iTunes and iPhoto.  This app does the job and works pretty well.  It isn’t the most intuitive app out there but after playing around with it I was able to get iTunes and iPhoto syncing on the LAN.  Check it out here.

My Favorite Mac App!

May 26th, 2009

Quicksilver

Quicksilver has gotta be my favorite application for the MAC.  For the average user Quicksilver is an application that helps you launch applications, documents, and open folders.  However, it can be customized into a very powerful tool.  You can create personalized shortcuts, create macros (create a keystroke to preform multiple events like attach an item to an email), and much more.  I will post a tutorial on how to use Quicksilver in the next few days.  For now here is someone elses tutorial.  Download Quicksilver from here.

Where to buy Windows Vista?

May 12th, 2009

For the regular user I recommend purchasing Windows Vista Basic.  What do you loose? Remote Desktop, Aero, and advanced Networking capabilities.  Don’t know what those are? No problem that is why you should buy Vista Basic.

When buying Microsoft Windows you have the option to purchase a retail version or an O.E.M (original equipment manufacturer/system builder) version.  What does it mean to buy O.E.M? See here.  Most likely you will purchase the 32bit version unless you have a 64bit capable processor.

On this Microsoft site you can read about the different versions of Windows Vista.

I recommend purchasing the software through Newegg or Amazon.

Windows 7 release candidate is available for the public to download.  From what I understand the software will time bomb sometime around March next year.  Until then we have the opportunity to try it out!  I have only had success downloading Windows 7 using Internet Explorer.

Download it here.

Read about it  here.
